The grass steps of the spectators’ area in the new arena, which is designed in the style of a classic amphitheatre, provide seating for up to 5,000 guests. It is being built in the extended area of the Gärten der Welt between the visitor centre and the English Garden and is based on a design by the architecture firm Paul Böhm from Cologne. The new stage has two wings and fits seamlessly into the parkland and the entire grounds with its curved, living roof. At the same time, it is highly flexible, because its basic area can be enlarged if necessary, providing space for an entire orchestra. The planned event formats and content will appeal to lovers of classical concerts as well as theatre and sports fans.

This new building is one of the structural highlights of the IGA Berlin 2017. Furthermore, the arena will remain open to the people of Berlin as well as tourists from Germany and abroad after the IGA as a new venue.
